Dear Parents and Carers,
In the recent few months you may be aware of the threat of Industrial Action by the teaching unions in Wales. The school leaders’ union NAHT Cymru will engage in industrial action short of strike action . As a result the National Education Union (NEU) have served notice of strike action on Wednesday 1st February 2023. Currently other teaching unions have not served notice. Due to this the headteacher and the Chair of Governors have made the decision to close five classrooms next Wednesday. The classes that will not be able to attend school are:
Year 2 SM Class “Cleddau”
Year 3 JJ Class “Pen-Y-Fan”
Year 4 AN Class “Cadair Idris”
Year 4/5 EP Class “Tywi”
Year 5 LD Class “Tryfan”
The rest of the school will be open as normal to all the other children.
The full list of projected strike days are as follows:
Wednesday 1 February 2023: all eligible members in England and Wales.
Tuesday 14 February 2023: all eligible members in Wales.
Wednesday 15 March 2023: all eligible members in England and Wales.
Thursday 16 March 2023: all eligible members in England and Wales.
The teaching staff and I want to see an end to this period of dispute and a return to normal
school life as soon as possible.
Yours sincerely,
Mr R. Harris
Headteacher
