Pupil Support

Pastoral

Pupil support and guidance is a priority at our school. We have a dedicated and experienced pastoral team led by a highly committed Senior Leadership Team who care for, guide and support pupils throughout their time at the school.

School Discipline & Achievements

The school has a policy which underpins behaviour and pupil support at Gnoll Primary School. Pupils are rewarded for good behaviour and achievement but also recognise that appropriate sanctions are required for breaking school rules. All staff are involved in the implementation of these rules and are proactive in rewarding good behaviour through our Dojos. These rewards are individual, class and whole school. We also hold Achievements Assembly on Friday morning which again celebrates success and achievement within the classroom. Each child is placed in a house. They are Mackworth, Evan, Bevan and Trick (people who were influential in developing the town of Neath).

Both Teaching and Teaching Assistants are proactive in monitoring  pupil progress. Mrs Gibbon/Miss Mogford is responsible for Wellbeing and Mrs Coleman, Mrs A. Davies and Mrs Trollope are the ALNCos at the school and regular progress reviews take place each term where by early identification of underachieving pupils

The support offered at the school has been a fundamental key to our success in ensuring pupils enjoy their time with us at the Gnoll. They feel valued and rewarded and achieve outstanding results.

Super Sixers

Our Year 6 pupils perform a vital leadership role in the school. They organise and perform a wide range of functions from breaktime and lunchtime duties to welcoming guests to our events. They are elected by our staff at the start of a new year. Our Super Sixers are exemplar role models and work hard to maintain excellent standards throughout the school.

External Agencies

The school works closely with a number of external agencies to provide additional support to pupils. We have a school based counsellor who visits the school to support learners on a wide range of wellbeing issues.
