ylan Thomas – “A Child’s Christmas in Neath” Project
On December 3rd, 2015 an exhibition was held at the Gwyn Hall, Neath. The aim of the exhibition was to commemorate Dylan Thomas and his work. Melin Infants, Melin Junior, Ynysmaerdy Primary, Brynhyfryd Primary, Gnoll Primary, Cwrt Sart Comprehensive and Cefn Saeson Comprehensive schools all collaborated on recreating A Child’s Christmas in Wales by adapting the story using the Talk Write method. The children were asked to create characters from the Neath area. Such characters were Jim the Trim, The Lollipop Lady, The Local Postman, Bryn the Breaker and a Tramp in the Park. The evening consisted of art work, displayed through the iPads, story writing and a story teller retelling his childhood in Neath.

The children enjoyed the experience of creating the wonderful artwork and stories. This also had an impact on the quality of their writing and the level of their work. The videos below were created by each school, retelling their story about their character from Neath.
