A Typical Day in the Rainbow Room (LSC)

The gates are opened at 8.45 where pupils are greeted by a member of staff.  Following registration, pupils are offered breakfast which is served in the classroom.  The day starts with a sensory circuit to allow pupils to become regulated and ready to learn.  We follow termly topics in line with mainstream classes, this allows excellent opportunities for integration.  All work is differentiated according to individual pupil abilities.  Pupils have access to a sensory room and workroom.  A visual timetable of the day is displayed to enable pupils to know what is coming next, this also allows changes that can happen in the day to be clearly displayed.  There are several specific sessions within the day that target individual pupil needs such as life skills and social communication development.  At present pupils eat lunch in the classroom.
